ATTENTION is taking notice. One of those words felt interesting or important enough to catch your attention. Now that you’re riding off the high of being alert, you’re fading back to a false sense of security. There’s no danger. Or so you think there’s none.
[ACTION REQUIRED], DUE BY, END OF DAY — are common ways to grab one’s attention. Drop everything you’re doing. Do this with a sense of urgency. Someone is sending out an SOS; a blank message in a bottle. There’s no reward. Only more work. Who are you really helping? You’re surely not helping by starving yourself of the very attention that brings meaning to your life.
Attention = Time + Consciousness. It’s more valuable than time, because you can kill time. You can’t kill consciousness. You’re always aware of your place in the world. Whether how big or small you may put yourself in that picture.
Your consciousness can be devasted though. It’s the more likely danger than taking attention to an enemy with a smiling face. When your attention is stolen by the world’s stage, it’s a clear possibility to be regularly devasted.
Our modern philosophers have failed us in realizing the importance of our attention. The egos of these so-called philosophers always wanting more of something they have so little of; attention. We become prisoners in chains, victims of venomous fate by following them blindly. You can choose your ready guide for your consciousness. This freewill determines the quality of the life you live. If you were paying attention and didn’t rush through lack of attention, you may have even noticed a pattern.
Rather we are compliant to where our attention goes. This ignorance is inexcusable when we know the secondhand effects from the poverty of places actually needing our attention. You don’t learn that your attention ought to be directed elsewhere from the vampires who are already neck deep.
We must not delude ourselves much longer. We’re bleeding out and our time is being killed. To ask where your attention is spent is to ask to break the spell cast upon you; the spell of customary mindless attention.
Attention is your way to connect and survive. You stand knee-deep in the flow of life and pay close attention by not by giving it away freely. It’s the small price to pay for the ultimate reward of beginning to heal. You start to pay attention to the pain that you’ve ignored. That pain becomes something more valuable in the process: experience.
The worst that can be said of any person is that “they did not pay attention”.
